Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the world of work has changed in significant ways. One of the most noticeable shifts has been the rise of remote work. What began as a short-term solution during lockdowns has now become a long-term option for many workers and companies.
Thanks to video calls, online platforms, and cloud-based tools, people can now work from home or other locations just as effectively as they could in the office. For many, this has meant more flexibility and better control over their daily routines.
At the same time, businesses have started to hire more workers from outside their local area—even from other countries. This process, often called outsourcing or remote hiring, allows companies to find skilled professionals from a wider talent pool. It can reduce costs and increase efficiency, but it also comes with some challenges. Teams must now learn to communicate across different time zones and cultures, and companies need to make sure their online systems are secure and reliable.
The traditional office environment has also changed. Many organisations now use a hybrid work model, where employees spend part of the week working from home and part in the office. As a result, some offices have been redesigned to support collaboration and shared work spaces, rather than giving each employee a permanent desk.

COVID-19 didn’t create these trends, in Europe the topic of mental health in the workplace has been discussed for many years with the introduction of HR roles, but Covid-19 certainly made the trend move faster, with people now seeking jobs that leave them feeling fulfilled and secure.
